Curved Glass
Curved glass panels can help achieve a sense of fluidity through a space using natural curves to open up areas that seem cold and clinical with flat, straight edges.
Glass can be curved in multiple directions with tight radii available depending on the glass composition. These curved glass panels can be manufactured as annealed, laminated or toughened, depending on the required application and curvature of the glass.
Increased Strength and Resistance
Toughened curved glass is used for areas of glazing where safety glass is required. This toughened glass curving process involves heating, curving and rapidly cooling the glass. This manufacturing process creates surface tensions, which increases the strength of the curved glass panels by up to 5 times greater than normal annealed glass. It reduces the risk of thermal stress breakage and increases resistance to any mechanical stress from wind, snow, etc. Curved toughened glass is therefore an excellent option for curved structural glass panels or large glass facades of curved glazing.
For tight radii annealed glass, panels can be laminated together, normally using a resin lamination technique, to form a safety glass for glass screens and balustrades.
All curved glazing can be brought together with spacer bars to form either a double or triple glazed panel for external uses and can be coated for performance, including anti-reflective coatings, dichroic coatings, semi-transparent mirror coatings, low-emissivity coatings or solar control coatings.
