Ceramic Frit

Ceramic Frit

Ceramic fritting involves applying ceramic inks through a stencil or screen, which are then fused to glass for a permanent, durable finish. This technique allows for precise and intricate designs to be applied directly to glass surfaces.

The Ceramic Fritting Process

Before glass is heat strengthened or tempered, ceramic frit is applied to the glass through a fine mesh screen with glass enamel. After tempering or heat strengthening, the glass enamel becomes a permanent coating which cannot be further damaged or removed by cleaning, scrubbing etc.

To prevent glass breakage due to thermal stress, the glass is always heat strengthened or tempered. Ceramic frit can be combined with clear or tinted glass substrates and high-performance coatings to reduce glare and decrease solar transmission.
